Why I Joined Constantine Law?
Suzette Squires, Partner
I joined Constantine Law because I wanted to work within a truly agile, forward facing firm. I explain below my experience of working in Constantine Law.
Working in a firm like Constantine Law allows me to strike an effective work/life balance. As a working mum, my experience of working in law firms and managing child care was immensely frustrating. At Constantine Law, I don’t have to meet huge chargeable hours targets. I am self-employed and work the hours that suit me and my clients. I can log on remotely and manage my workload effectively. The result is that I am more responsive to my clients.
You must be highly entrepreneurial to work in an environment like Constantine Law. Partners manage their own client base and take home a significant portion of the fees they invoice. The clients are happy too: our agile working platform means that I charge, on average 30% less than I did in my previous firm.
My Working Week
A typical working week will see me delivering senior employment advice, working on transactions and supporting the team with know-how and articles, including our regular retainer bulletin, which I write. The week starts with a dial-in on Monday morning and we also have monthly business development meetings. How we structure the remainder of our time is determined by us as fee earners and the clients. I find this hugely motivating because the entire relationship is one of trust.
Our team is truly agile, based throughout the country. I usually work remotely, allowing me to balance work with the needs of my family however, we all work together on our files to ensure consistency and highly responsive turnaround times. We work in a highly collaborative way: winning work and passing it to each other.
