Alan Lewis quoted in People Management on employer's failure to make reasonable adjustments

Alan Lewis has been quoted in People Management  on a tribunal ruling that firing a blind baker during his probation, after the employer failed to make reasonable adjustments was discriminatory.

 

Alan says the case highlights many essential actions HR managers can take to avoid disability discrimination lawsuits,  including correctly identifying when an employee may require reasonable adjustments due to a disability, even if it was not initially revealed, and proactively addressing potential adjustments with the employee. Managers should also receive training on determining when adjustments are required and implement them effectively.
