Workplace grievances are on the rise: John Hayes comments in The Times

With Employment Tribunal claims rising by over a quarter in the last three years, could the increasing use of generative AI tools like ChatGPT to work out whether there is a legal case to answer, be partly to blame?
Commenting in The Times, Managing Partner, John Hayes believes that this democratization of legal knowledge is reshaping how employees challenge dismissals, grievances, and workplace treatment. “I think ChatGPT will do for law what the internet did for journalism: everyone can become a lawyer now,” he said.
As the Employment Rights Bill moves towards becoming law and we move toward day-one unfair dismissal rights and more AI-informed litigation, Hayes stresses the need for balance — between access to justice and a system that can handle the load.
